Podcasts to learn about pupil & teacher wellbeing
Pupil and teacher wellbeing awareness has grown significantly in the last few years, but the conversation is forever moving and shifting. Listening to podcasts is a fantastic way to learn about new wellbeing and mental health concepts, inside and outside of the classroom.
To help you mindfully move through different phases of the school year, we’ve come up with a few selections of insightful & engaging podcasts targeting teacher and educator well-being.
1. Teacher Wellbeing Podcast
Having celebrated its fifth anniversary this year, the Teacher Wellbeing Podcast focuses on all aspects of wellbeing in education. The podcast aims to “Inspire and empower educators of all kinds to take back control of their health and happiness by being proactive about their wellbeing”.

2. The Philips Positive Podcast
Created by Jack Barlow, a secondary wellbeing lead, The Philips Positive Podcast breaks down barriers with simple but direct conversations with his fellow colleagues. The podcast invites teachers to ‘share their own mental health difficulties’ enabling an open discussion with pupils to share how they’re feeling and tips to cope.

3. The Pursuit of Wellbeing
The Pursuit of Wellbeing explores wider issues in the UK’s education sector, via conversations with key figures discussing teachers, school leaders, and the wider school system, in a time of tremendous pressure Listeners gain practical advice, wellbeing ideas and inspiration from educational experts.

4. The Balanced Educator
The Balanced Educator is a weekly podcast, with the aim to ‘equip teachers with concrete, practical, social-emotional learning and mindfulness strategies’, to help them bring empowerment both in and out of the classroom. Created and hosted by Educalme co-founders Kailey Lefko and Josianne Barnabé, the podcast covers a variety of topics from student engagement, gratitude and building emotional resilience.
